MINUTES
MARCH 24, 2006
The Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. in the King Kamehameha's Kona
Beach Hotel, 75-5660 Palani Road, Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, with Vice-Chairperson William R.
Graham presiding.

INITIATOR: PLANNING DIRECTOR
Amendment to Chapter 25 (Zoning), Article 4, Section 25-4-11 (b) by including a sewer pump
station as a permitted use in any zone district subject to the Planning Directors issuance of a
plan approval.

MINUTESThe Commission took this item up at 9:41 a.m. with
no one from the public in attendance.
February 24, 2006 - It was moved by Commissioner Siracusa and seconded by Commissioner
Watanabe that the approval of the minutes be deferred to the next meeting. The motion was
unanimously carried by a voice vote of all Commissioners present.

Deputy Corporation Counsel Ivan Torigoe noted that at the April 7 meeting he will be
discussing a proposed settlement agreement amongst the parties regarding the appealbefore the
Third Circuit Court on Ainaloa Development Corporations Use Permit No. 106. He noted the
Commission may want an executive session to discuss the merits of the appeal and requested that
the staff provide the Commissioners with copies of Judge Haras decision.
Commissioner Siracusa stated that she will be unable to attend the April Kona meeting

Mr. Hayashi reminded the Commissioners of the General Plan Interim Amendments workshop

on March 31 in Hilo. He noted that hearings on those proposals are scheduled for April 7 in

Hilo and April 21 in West Hawaii.

As some Commissioners would not be at the March 31 workshop and her term would end on
thatdate,CommissionerSpringerstateditwasherprivilegeandpleasuretoworkwiththe
Commission. Chair Graham expressed the Commissions enjoyment of her attendance and
participationovertheyears.
