The Planning Commission met in regular session at 9:00 a.m. in the Ohana Keauhou Beach

ADMINISTRATIVE At 7:16 p.m., the Commission took up the following
MATTERunder Administrative Matters:
Appeal of Anthony Ako AnjoÓs appeal on the Vipassana Meditation Center - Mr. Torigoe noted
that the Intermediate Court of Appeals affirmed the Circuit CourtÓs denial of as Mr. Anjo did not
follow the proper intervention procedures to participate in a contested case.
Planning Commission Attorney - Mr. Torigoe said the Office of Corporation Counsel
periodically rotates assignments and he regretably informs the Commission that after today he
will no longer be servicing the Planning Commission. He thanked the Commission for their
professionalism and the courtesy extended to him. His parting words to the Commission were to
base their decisions on what is only on the record and not by a CommissionerÓs personal
comments or inquiries; to adhere to the Sunshine Law, and to please extend to Ms. OÓToole the
same courtesy and kindness that the Commission has shown him, noting Ms. OÓToole is very

experienced and will serve the Commission well. The Commission and Planning Commission
staff expressed their personal regrets in having Mr. Torigoe being reassigned and said they will
surely miss him, but thanked him for his sound advice all these years and wished him well.

Planning Commission Meetings - Mr. Hayashi noted the August 14 Hilo meeting has been

cancelled and the next meeting is scheduled for September 11 in Kona.
ADJOURNMENTThere being no further business, the Chair declared the meeting
adjourned at 7:34 p.m.
