SUMIDA (SPP 08-000053) <br />Special Permit to allow the establishment of a baseyard for trucks and trailers on 0.9 acre of land <br />situated within the State Land Use Agricultural District. The property is located between <br />rd <br />Highway 130 (Keaau – Pahoa Road) and 33 Avenue, Hawaiian Paradise Park Subdivision, <br />Keaau, Puna, Hawaii TMK: 1-5-16:72. <br />WATANABE: Agenda Item No. 3 is Carnor J. Sumida (SPP 08-000053). We’re going to <br />have Mr. Darrow provide us with the staff presentation before we take on the testifiers in this <br />situation. So, Mr. Darrow. <br />DARROW: Thank you, Mr. Chairman. If we could just hold on for a minute here. <br />Thank you, Mr. Chairman. If I can direct your attention to the board, the applicant in this case is <br />Carnor J. Sumida. He’s requesting a special permit to allow the establishment of a baseyard for <br />rd <br />trucks and trailers on 0.9 acre of land on 33 Avenue in the Hawaiian Paradise Park Subdivision. <br />This is an area that has been a focus of special permits for the last five years. There have <br />rd <br />previously been four permits on Makuu and 33, this is in between Paradise Park and Makuu <br />Avenue. Just for reference we have the Keaau-Pahoa Road, Highway 130, running in a <br />north/south direction, and we also have Makuu Avenue running in a mauka/makai direction.
