<br />KAILUA VILLAGE DESIGN COMMISSION <br />MINUTES <br />MEETING DATE: September 23, 2008 <br />TIME: 5:00 p.m. <br />PLACE: The Mayor’s Office Conference Room, Suite 103 <br />Hanama Place Office Building in Kailua Village <br />ROLL CALL <br />1.Members Present: Paul Bleck, Fritz Harris-Glade, Stephen Herbert (left at 6:50 p.m.), <br />Ann Kern, Sally Marone, Gregory Ogin and David Ross, Jr. <br />2.Absent and Excused: Fanny Collins Au Hoy and Cindy Coats <br />3.Applicant: Debbie Baker and Eric von Platen Luder <br />4.Staff Present: Bennett Mark, Rosalind Newlon and Noriko Sauer <br />5.Public: Wilda James, Jean Mallion, Kaliko Chun, Jeff Moon and Louis Padavan <br />Chair Marone welcomed those in attendance, and the Commissioners introduced themselves. <br />UNFINISHED BUSINESS <br />None. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />1.Design review of a proposed car wash as part of a proposed commercial development <br />including retail and restaurant establishments. Applicant: Terry K. Dunlap of Kona <br />Home & Land Design, LLC. Land Owner: Prime A. Investments, LLC. TMK: 7-5- <br />004:031. Located along the south side of Henry Street at the intersection with Kuakini <br />Highway, Kailua-Kona, HI. <br />Mr. Mark distributed copies of a letter dated September 22, 2008, from the applicant <br />requesting a postponement. A motion to grant the request was made by Commissioner <br />Ross, seconded by Commissioner Harris-Glade, and unanimously carried by a voice vote <br />of all Commissioners in attendance. <br />Per Mr. Mark’s recommendation, the Commission concurred to take up the administrative <br />matters at this time. <br />ADMINISTRATIVE MATTERS <br />Minutes of the Meeting of July 22, 2008 – It was moved by Commissioner Ogin and seconded <br />by Commissioner Kern that the minutes be approved as circulated. The motion was <br />unanimously carried by a voice vote of all Commissioners in attendance. <br />1 <br /> <br />
