Dear Mr. Chair Vitousek and Members of the Leeward Planning Commission:
I’m writing to you on my own behalf and as a member of the Kailua-Kona community to express my support
for Special Permit No. 21-000227, submitted by Kona Aerials Gymnastic Team Inc. requesting to permit the
operation of a youth gymnastic and sport fitness facility on Hualalai Road in Kailua-Kona.
Please please please allow this permit, so our community can continue to benefit from this WORLD CLASS
gymnastics gym. Yes I said WORLD CLASS because that’s how professional this gymnastics gym is. I grew
up doing gymnastics for 10 years, so i know how lucky we are to have this level of a gym and coach. Nannette
is an amazing coach that makes high level athletes. She has trained two gymnasts up to the highest competitive
level (competing at nationals). I’m told she trained with Bella Karolyi (the most famous and successful coach
in gymnastics history). She has an amazing level 10 gymnast there right now, that she has trained from a young

girl. She NEEDS a large gym, to be able to do this. Commercial spaces are not large enough for this. She
needs an industrial building for this, and she needs it to be affordable as possible, in order for the community to
be able to afford it. I am told that if this building permit doesn’t work out, she will be retiring, and Kona
Aerials Gymnastics will be no more. Please please please don’t let this happen!
I ask that you please vote to approve Special Permit No. 21-000227 so that our community can continue to
enjoy the many benefits that Kona Aerials Gymnastics and the Nakuwana Foundation provide.
