Subject: Kona Aerials Special Use Permit Letter (SPP -21-000227)
Aloha All,
My name is Monica Spencer Ament, and I am the mother of an athlete that trains with Kona Aerials in Kailua-Kona. I am
writing this letter in support of requesting the Special Use Permit for Kona Aerials Gymnastics.
My daughter Gwendolyn "Winnie" Ament, is 8 years old, and this is her very first year, competing on the Competition
team with Kona Aerials. She has worked hard for the past 2 years, to get to this point. She trains after school 3-4 days a
week in preparation for competition. In the summer, they train 5 days a week for 5-6 hours, every day. Her very first
meet is in 1 week and her excitement is through the roof.
The hardwork and dedication these young athletes put in for the love of gymnastics is nothing short than amazing and
inspiring. It would be heartbreaking for all of the gymnasts that work this hard throughout the years to lose this
sisterhood/team & all of their coaches that have dedicated their lives to train not only their bodies, but their minds as
well.
I humbly ask to grant Kona Aerials this Special Use Permit, so Big Island's youth can continue their training and education
in and out of the gym.
My daughter Winnie, has grown tremendously as a person since training with Kona Aerials. Focusing on mental strength,
challenging themselves every day, physical fitness, as well as healthy lifestyles that translate into their everyday lives.
Leadership skills, creating strong friendship bonds, teaching commitment and teamwork, keeping their minds open for
instruction and always room for learning and growth, and my personal favorite, healthy nutrition to fuel their bodies
that work so hard. My daughter has grown so much, and makes every day choices for health, fitness, leadership, and
nutrition because of Kona Aerials.

If Kona Aerials is forced to shut down due to not receiving the permit, it will not only affect the gymnasts that currently
attend now, but also removes the opportunity for children in the future as well. We are a Big Island, but we are a small
island as well, and our options are very limited for extra curricular activities.
As a mother of a daughter, auntie to so many nieces, who would be heartbroken if they no longer had their gym and
friends to grow with, I am asking to please reconsider granting Kona Aerials the special use permit.
Mahalo for your time,
