However I am very disappointed. I am a school counselor at one of the largest elementary schools in the <br />state and I see firsthand the need for our community to have programs for children and youth. We have very limited <br />programs for exercise and athletics. Kona Aerials is the only gymnastics facility on the Kona side of the island and only <br />one of two gymnastics facilities on the whole island. It would be absolutely devastating to our community if this permit <br />does not go through. We have girls that have been training their whole lives and are only two years away from receiving <br />college scholarships. It would absolutely devastate their careers for Kona Aerials to close down. We’ve had kids in foster <br />care that have received scholarships to participate in our Gymnastics program, it has become their family that they <br />never had. We throw Christmas parties, birthday parties, we adopt families in the community during the holidays and <br />help support them. Last year we helped provide gifts towards families in need at Christmas time. We do food drives and <br />donate to local food banks. I could go on and on about the ways that this gymnastics club not only services it’s own <br />members but the members of the community as well. <br /> <br />Please if there’s any way to make an exception and allow me to testify I would be so grateful.
