Regarding Special Permit No. 21-000227 for Kona Aerials Gymnastics
To whom it may concern,
My daughter Leialoha Walters was watching u-tube videos showing gymnastic skills during the
pandemic. 5 years old back then, she got so inspired that she begged me to sign her up for
Gymnastics. Luckily the gym was just down our road. She advanced so fast that she made pre
team the very next year. Since then she won State Champion twice. Coach Nanette, her
daughter Kayla, coach Venus and some student coaches do a wonderful job in teaching the kids
skills for life. Not just on physical level but life skills as confidence, time management. Health,
team spirit, courage, respect....
I talk from experience. I was a Gymnast myself until 19 years old. All the skills I learnt there
helped me to become a professional triathlete, first competing for Germany and then for
USA/Hawaii.
I got my Green Card due to my exceptional skills as an athlete. As you can see, Gymnastics
opens doors and opportunities for keikis in life.
For our keikis, Kona Aerials means the world. They love going there 4 times per week after
school. Coach Nanette also offers classes for our Kupuna. She is a very important pillar in our
community.
Please approve the special permit application so our keiki and kupuna have a safe place to stay
healthy and fit.
