Dear Mr. chair and members of the leeward planning commission:
I am writing to you on my own behalf as a member of the Kailua Kona community and a parent to three gymnasts at the Kona
Aerials gymnastics facility, to express my support for a special permit number 21-000227, submitted by the Kona Aerials
gymnastics team Inc. Requesting to permit the operation of a youth, gymnastics in sports facility on Hualalai Road in Kailua
Kona.
Kona Aerials gymnastics is a nonprofit organization that served Westway athletes for decades, and is the only gymnastics
training facility in Kona available for our children. Their program offers youth, the opportunity to participate in activities that
advance, her physical and emotional skills, promoting leadership confidence, teamwork, and physical coordination.
More personally, my daughter has sensory processing disorder being a part of the Kona Aerials gymnastics has allowed her a
healthy outlet to satisfy her sensory needs. It has helped our family immensely. It is given her discipline and taught her
coordination that is allowed her to express her needs in a safe manner. she has learned discipline and structure . I am so
incredibly thankful for the work done by Kona Aerials gymnastics and Coach Nanette. I would be heartbroken to see this
facility taken from our community as it provides a wonderful training opportunity for our children.
I ask you to please vote for approval special permit number 21-000227 so that our community can continue to enjoy the mini
benefits of Connor Aerials gymnastics. Not only is this a wonderful program facility, but it is the only program and facility.
Please do not take this away from our children.
