Aloha Leeward and Windward Planning Commissions,
Please oppose agenda item 1,the Planning Department's proposed Setback of 40 feet for Rules 8 and 9. 40
feet is not adequate especially given our changing shoreline due to natural causes as well as climate
changes.Moreover,the proposal lack adequate detail,thus providing loopholes for private development that
could harm our natural resources and Native Hawaiian cultural sites.
While the proposal contains some positive elements such as defining single-family residence construction as
"development",it needs to be sent back to Planning to ask them to provide greater detail in order to ensure
our common good. It's worth the extra time.
