Aloha Leeward and Windward Planning Commission,
Please oppose agenda item 1,the Planning Department's Shoreline Setback of 40 feet for Rules 8 and 9.
I oppose it due to:
-Lack of descriptive detail in Rules 8 and 9
-Rule 8:the inadequate setback requirements while Oahu and Maui commit to 60-130 feet setback,further aligning
with Hawai'i State's Climate Resilient initiatives.Our county would be better served to require 1000 ft setbacks
from the coastline!
- Hawai'i County Planning Department is proposing weak archaeological rules that will not protect cultural and
historic sites. Please only support 3.a. (4)B:the prior no effect letter from SHPD.
