From: Simmv
To: LPCtestimony(@hawai.aov;WPCtestimonv
Subject: Fwd: Oppose Shoreline of 40 feet
Date: Wednesday, May 31,2023 2:42:35 PM
Aloha Leeward and Windward Commissioners,
I wanted to share more...
Please see attached as, we need to keep up with the Rising Sea Level,
and move it to 60 feet to 130 feet. (Now, not two years later)
Council Unanimously passes 2 bills to combat the rising sea level.
Starting in July 2024.
Our coast here on Alii Drive is crucial. I know of owners on the ocean front,
who have metal shutters. They say when the waves are big, it goes over
their house at Kahalu'u.
Also, private ocean front owners feel entitled to post signs along the shoreline.
Clearly the white sand shows this belongs to the PUBLIC and should be Enjoyed
by All. I took my Moopuna for a stroll, they hesitated when they read the sign, I
had to explain this is not the case.
Mahalo!
Simmy McMichael
Kailua Kona
