Please see attached as, we need to keep up with the Rising Sea Level, and move it to 60 feet to 130 feet. (Now, not two years later) Council Unanimously passes 2 bills to combat the rising sea level. Starting in July 2024. Our coast here on Alii Drive is crucial. I know of owners on the ocean front, who have metal shutters. They say when the waves are big, it goes over their house at Kahalu'u. Also,private ocean front owners feel entitled to post signs along the shoreline. Clearly the white sand shows this belongs to the PUBLIC and should be Enjoyed by All. I took my Moopuna for a stroll, they hesitated when they read the sign, I had to explain this is not the case. Mahalo! Bills 41 and 42 will increase the shoreline setback rules for new buildings, Currently it's 40 feet from the high water mark. Starting in July 2024, it will increase to between 60 to 130 feet, depending on the coastal erosion rate and location and size of th development.
