I am writing in support of the special permit application for Robert Silber. Robert is a
kind, generous and hard-working person who has developed a high-quality neighborhood
that is a benefit to the larger community. He has 30 years experience in
agriculture/permaculture, environmental work as well as personal growth and
development.
He is a man of integrity and has good relations with the other neighbors at the Lolia
Subdivision. He has planted and tended hundreds of fruit trees and fenced off over 40
acres of land around the 12 parcels in the neighborhood to increase sustainability and
prevent pig damage. He has invested significantly in the property to build solid
infrastructure and safe buildings and is committed to ensuring that any outstanding
building permit issues are resolved. . He stayed and continued to work on the land and
infrastructure even after the devastating 2018 Lava Flow and the Pandemic.
I'm continually impressed and inspired by Robert and his integrity.
I ask you to approve this special permit request as Robert has demonstrated his care for
the Aina, the Puna community and willingness to do the hard work necessary to create
something of value for others.
