To Windward Planning Commission
As a Puna resident, I am writing to support the above application for a special use permit. I believe
we need places like this to not only help build a stronger community but also to create jobs and a
clean local economy based on education and tourism.
I am a frequent visitor using the facilities and urge all that are concerned to visit the center and see
what an inspirational place it is indeed. The gardens/orchards and off -grid infrastructure exemplify
how people can live more closely to the land and a sustainable style that adds to the solution of the
carbon crisis instead of creating more problems. Also since Kalani has taken a big step back, this
type of center is in great need.
I understand that HER is sensitive to their neighbors and have initiated conversations and guidelines
to address concerns.
In this time of uncertainty, it is crucially important for community to come together and have a place to
do so. This could potentially increase the strength of each of us individually, our families, as well as a
community. Please consider the positive impact your approval would contribute to the wellbeing of us
all.
