MEETING AGENDA

I. CALL TO ORDER
Meeting called to order by Chair Farrah-Marie Gomes at 9:35am.
II. ROLL CALL
Present: Farrah-Marie Gomes, Shana Kukila, Hannah Pita-Preston, Rachelle
Agrigado-Betts, Andrew Langtry, Lisa Pana, Christina Basham, Keyra Wong (for
Corporation Counsel). Quorum met.
Excused — Elena Cabatu, Evelyn Lee, Jennifer Stotter (HSCSW Commissioner ex-
officio), Suzanna Tiapula (Corporation Counsel ex-officio).
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES for April 19, 2023
Motion to approve minutes by Andrew, seconded by Rachelle. Discussion involved
correction to spelling of Elena's name in item III. and changing spend to spent in item
IV. Motion amended to approve minutes with edits. All in favor. Minutes approved.
IV. TREASURER'S REPORT
A. Approval of Treasurer's Report— Expenditures reported included $2,650 for gift
cards, leaving $7,350 remaining at the close of this cycle. Hannah motioned to
approve the Treasurer's Report, Rachelle seconded. No discussion, all in favor.
Treasurer's Report approved.
V. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC - None
VI. CORRESPONDENCE
a. Received Resolution 74-23 — Urging awareness and pledging support to protect
Native Hawaiian women and girls from abuse and exploitation. Committee
encouraged to read document and strategize ways in which CSW can
incorporate this resolution into our plans for future events.
VII. REPORTS
A. Statements from the Public- None
B. Hawaii State CSW (HSCSW) liaison report— No report received from Jennifer
Stotter prior to meeting.
C. Family Violence Interagency Committee (FVIC)- None
D. Missing Murdered Native Hawaiian Women and Girls (MMNHWG)Task Force.
No meeting report, however, there are preliminary discussions about garnering
support by working in partnership with Rick Kobayashi to elevate CSW work and
mission around this movement. More to come.

B. Nominations and Vote for Nominating Committee
a. Andrew motioned to approve members of the nominating committee -
Farrah, Lisa and Shana. Rachelle seconded. All in favor. Members for
nominating committeee approved.
b. This committee is tasked with providing a slate of nominees for next
year's CSW officers at least two weeks prior to next meeting.
IX. OLD BUSINESS
A. Statements from the Public- None
B. Sub-Committee Memberships
a. Nomination and Election of Sub-Committee members
Will remain a standing item to re-evaluate committee roles, responsibility
and strategy for future years.
C. Communications Sub-Committee reports
a. Status of CSW gmail account— No update
b. Facebook updates
i. No new postings. However, committee will look to possibly recruit
an intern to manage account, with a focus on the 2024 elections.
c. Family Services Directory
i. Focus on a 2024 directory, all committee members will have a
section to update and complete by August.
ii. Distribution log - please remember to log distribution information.
D. Outreach Sub-Committee reports
a. 2022 Year of the Mother
Committee reviewed the report with edits as shared by Shana. Members
are encouraged to read through the report and get familiar with its
contents, as report will be organized in a presentation binder to be shared
at CSW events. Next steps going forward include action planning.
Rachelle motioned to approved the Status of the Mother Report 2022,
Hannah seconded. All in favor. Status of the Mother Report 2022
approved. Expression of thanks and congratulations was shared with
Shana and the committee for their extensive research and work in putting
the report together.
b. Teen Dating Violence
To order more, a project rationale for next cycle needs to be submitted,
preferably at next meeting.

c. Real Women Essay
No updates. Question was posed as to whether or not we want to do this
next year. If yes, its recommended that the committee start notifying
teachers in early Fall.
d. Community Surveys
Christina shared that there is an event in Kona on Saturday, June 24 for
mothers and daughters only, at which time, surveys will be distributed.
Members are encourage to collaborate with Shana on ideas for adding
Politcal/Voting Behaviors questions to the survey.
E. Research Sub-Committee reports
a. Status of Women Report. Tasks going forward are to brainstorm ideas for
what the next report should include. Committee is urged to be creative in
how the information collected is compiled to magnify its impact.
b. Equal Pay. Committee will brainstorm ideas in which the message of
equal pay can be amplified for 2024.
F. Legislative
a. Legislative priorities
No report. However, committee is tasked with monitoring both County and
State level initiatives and bills, bring updates to CSW. Think about who in
the Legislature can be invited to our meetings for a 15-20 minute session
update, etc.
b. Human Trafficking - No report
c. Equal Pay
See above Section E Research Sub-Committee Reports, Item b.
d. Missing Murdered Native Hawaiian Women and Girls (MMNHWG)
No timeline on when new state report will be released, but the work will
involve intimate data collection through first-hand survivor and family
testimonials and stories.
X. ANNOUNCEMENTS
a. Save the Date for"It Takes a Village" Crime Prevention Networking and Re-
source Fair—July 20 from 11 am to 2pm, Sangha Hall. Shana motioned to
participate in the Crime Prevention Networking and Resource Fair, Rachelle
seconded. All in favor. Participation in the Resource Fair approved. Farrah will
submit registration.
XI. ADJOURNMENT
Rachelle motioned to adjourn meeting, Hannah seconded. All in favor. Meeting
adjourned at 10:40am
