Subject: Applicant Hamakua Health, Inc dba Hamakua-Kohala Health
PL-SPP 2023-000038 and PL-USE 2023-000010
The Advisory Group of the North Kohala Community Development Plan voted on May 31'to
fully support the applications of Hamakua-Kohala Health for the permits listed above.
This endorsement came on the recommendation of the Growth Management Subgroup, which
thoroughly reviewed the SPP and USE filings and requests as well as the County's background
and recommendations.
The relocation of the Kohala Clinic and phased construction of the new clinic is in line with the
recommendations of the North Kohala Community Development Plan. Not only would it provide
increased health care for the community but would allow the University of Hawaii to conduct
teaching and research programs in our rural community.
