<br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />COUNTY OF HAWAI‘I <br />HEARING TRANSCRIPT <br />SEPTEMBER 22, 2006 <br />ALLIANCE REDWOODS <br />A regularly advertised hearing on the application of <br />CONFERENCE GROUNDS, INC. (SPP 06-000033) <br />was called to order at 9:01 a.m.in the <br />Hapuna Beach Prince Hotel, Mauka Salon, 62-100 Kaunaoa Drive, Kohala Coast, Hawaii with <br />Chairman C. Kimo Alameda presiding. <br />PRESENT:C. Kimo Alameda ABSENT & EXCUSED: Allen Salavea <br />Fred Galdones Rene’ Siracusa <br />Andrew IwashitaRodney Watanabe <br />Bill Graham <br />Jeffrey McCall <br />Alvin Rho <br />Ivan Torigoe, Deputy Corporation Counsel <br />Christopher Yuen, Planning Director <br />Norman Hayashi, Planning Program Manager <br />Phyllis Fujimoto, Staff Planner <br />Jeff Darrow, Staff Planner <br />And approximately 30 people from the public in attendance. <br />APPLICANT: ALLIANCE REDWOODS CONFERENCE GROUNDS, INC. <br />(SPP 06-000033) <br />Special Permit to allow the establishment of a camping and retreat center on 6 acres of land <br />situated within the State Land Use Agricultural District. The area under consideration is located <br />approximately 0.8 mile makai of Akoni Pule Highway (State Highway 270) and in the vicinity of <br />Union Market, Hanaula, North Kohala, Hawaii, TMK: 5-4-9: portion of 12. <br />ALAMEDA:We have four agenda items for today; and right now we’re waiting on <br />more of the record for Agenda Item No. 1. So for those of you who are waiting for Agenda Item <br />No. 1, I have a proposal. While we’re waiting for the record, I’d like to address Agenda Item <br />No. 3, since we have a lot of testifiers here for that. And the hope is that once we’re done with 3, <br />we’ll have most of the record for 1. And so my thinking is this, Fellow Commissioners, you <br />guys can chip in and tell me your thoughts on this, is we have four agenda items for today, I’d <br />like to go to 3, then 2; and then take a recess and look at all of the documents that we for Agenda <br />No. 1, make sure that we have a complete record, and then proceed that way.
