HomeMy WebLinkAboutchanges to 183D 10.5 - Hunter Directed Exenditures from WRFThe purpose of this Submission, is to offset the States game animal resource removal
activities. Funds contributed to the Wildlife Revolving Fund as enacted by Chapter
183D-10.5, and by this suggestion change, originall was to be distributed in response
to hunting advocacy groups in cooperation with DLNR/DOFAW to preserve, protect and
promote public hunting. Now that we have a State Game Commission, these funds are
particularly suited, in my opinion, to guidance from those that contribute these funds.
It is hoped that the use of these funds would be more innovatively directed to our game
mammal resources that these funds should be used to relocate or enhance habitat of
game mammals and game birds as determined by the currently appropriate Game
Management Plan or absent a current plan, reasonably identified areas suitable for
relocation or enhancement; provided further that the funds are used to enhance
habitat for the purposes of improving sustainable wildlife resources for the purposes of
subsistence, hunting, and the exercise of gathering rights.
Section 183D-10.5(d) is amended to read; (e) In addition to subsections (c) and (f), the department [may]shall use moneys received [in] into the wildlife revolving fund for the importation into, and the management, preservation, propagation, and protection of,
game,[or] introduced game species[,or] wildlife in the State; provided that the
department prior to authorizing expenditures or expending funds from the wildlife revolving fund shall first. after coordination, direction, and cooperation, with the State
Game Management Advisory Commission; may use those funds to maximize the
State's participation to secure federal funds under the Pittman-Robertson Federal Aid in Wildlife Restoration Act, as amended provided such use of matching funds is appropriate to §183D-2 (12), Preserve, protect, and promote public hunting.
