APPLICANT'S REQUEST
■ A SPECIAL PERMIT TO ALLOW THE ESTABLISHMENT OF A 4-BEDROOM BED AND BREAKFAST
(B&B) OPERATION WITHIN AN EXISTING 7,270 SQUARE-FOOT, 5-BEDROOM DWELLING ON
APPROXIMATELY 9.63 ACRES OF LAND.
■ THE APPLICANT ORIGINALLY APPLIED FOR A 5-BEDROOM B&B, BUT SINCE THE EXISTING (j
DWELLING HAS 5 PERMITTED BEDROOMS AND ZONING CODE REQUIRES AN ONSITE
OPERATOR FOR B&B ESTABLISHMENTS, THE APPLICANT OPTED TO DOWNSIZE THE REQUEST TO
A 4-BEDROOM B&B.
■ THE 4 BEDROOMS DESIGNATED FOR GUESTS WILL PROVIDE OVERNIGHT ACCOMMODATION
FOR A MAXIMUM OF 8 GUESTS, FOR STAYS OF LESS THAN 30 DAYS AND WITH OPTIONAL
BREAKFAST.
■ 5 ON-SITE PARKING STALLS WILL BE PROVIDED FOR B&B GUESTS AND HOURS OF OPERATION
WILL BE FROM 8:00 AM TO 6:00 PM DAILY.
PURPOSE OF REQUEST
■ THE APPLICANT WOULD LIKE TO OPERATE A B&B TO SUPPLEMENT THEIR
RETIREMENT INCOME.
■ ADDITIONALLY, SINCE THE APPLICANT MAINTAINS A SMALL FARM ON THE
PROPERTY WITH FRUIT TREES AND LIVESTOCK, THE B&B WILL ALLOW GUESTS
TO LEARN ABOUT SMALL FARM AGRICULTURE IN HAWAI`I .
