Hawaii Police Commission Meeting Agenda February 16, 2024 Page 2 • Correspondence No. 24-01: Hawaii Police Department's Annual Misconduct Report to State Legislature • Correspondence No. 24-02 Re: Maui Police Commission's non-participation in hosting State of Hawaii Commission Conference 2024 EXECUTIVE SESSION (CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC) The commission will meet in executive session to consider charges against officers or employees of the police department, where matters affecting privacy will be involved; to consider sensitive matters related to public safety, and may consult with the board's attorney on questions and issues pertaining to the commission's powers, duties, privileges, immunities, and liabilities pursuant to HRS 92-5 (a)(2)(4)(6) and the Hawaii County Charter Section 13-20 (b). CONSIDERATION AND INVESTIGATION OF COMPLAINTS (Briefly summarized) • HPC 23-40: Complainant alleges false theft report and excessive use of force by officers • HPC 24-01: Complainant alleges officers did not test possibly inebriated driver responsible for traffic accident • HPC 24-02: Complainant alleges excessive use of force by unknown officer • HPC 24-05: Complainant alleges misconduct in regards to officer-involved traffic accident • Review of complaints in the non-acceptance category REQUEST FOR REPRESENTATION BY CORPORATION COUNSEL • Correspondence No. 23-12: Marie Hukulani Inez Figueroa v. ADJOURNMENT Submitting Written Testimony: Written testimony may be submitted via email at irtt;�antlha,,,Ibe lh� in,.plh�awaiiiicouirnty„ ov, by mail, or in person to the Police Commission's office at 101 Pauahi Street, Suite 9, Hilo, Hawaii 96720. Written testimony must be received by 12:00 noon, two business days before the meeting to ensure timely delivery to the Commission. Oral Testimony: Testimony must be related to an item on the agenda. The Commission will hear public testimony at the beginning of the meeting or when the respective agenda item is called or as allowed at the sole discretion of the Chair. Testifiers will be limited to five (5) minutes, please plan accordingly.
