MEETING MINUTES
Wednesday, December 20,2023

I. CALL TO ORDER
Meeting called to order by Elena Cabatu at 11:3am.
II. ROLL CALL
Present: Rachelle Agrigado-Betts, Elena Cabatu, Shana Kukila, Jennifer Stotter
(HSCSW Commissioner ex-officio, Suzanna Tiapula (Corporation Counsel ex-
officio), Christina Basham — (Recording Secretary), Farrah-Marie Gomes - Quorum
met.
Absent: Dr. Hannah Pita-Preston, Evelyn Lee, Lisa Hana, Andrew Langtry (Treas-
urer)
Guests: Nicole Gray (Rep. Tokuda), Laura Acasio
III. APPROVAL OF MINUTES for October 18' & November 20, 2023
Shana motioned to approve the minutes, Christina seconded.
DISCUSSION: Edits to several items.
All approved, motion passed.
IV. TREASURER'S REPORT
No Action Taken —Andrew (Treasurer) Not Present at meeting.
V. STATEMENTS FROM THE PUBLIC (may be made now or at any time an agenda

VI. CORRESPONDENCE

VI I. REPORTS
A. Hawaii State CSW (HSCSW) liaison report— Jennifer shared an update that
interviews are in planning to being scheduled for Executive Director. More
information forthcoming.
B. Family Violence Interagency Committee (FVIC) —East Hawaii attended by Shana,
several attendees at meeting — upcoming DV Vigil for 24' tentative date of
10/11/24. Discussion for increasing attendance in Vigil and discussed calendar
engagement. Christina attended West Hawaii, only a couple of people present,
debriefed on Vigil and a few concerns. Discussed homelessness and how each
provider sees this issue and possible resolutions.

A. Statements from the Public

B. Discussion on travel planned for CSW, Suzanna provided a link for guidance for
those attending the legislature meeting coming up in January. QUICK REVIEW:

Suzanna provided overview of the process for those attending reporting back in
February to the CWS committee on legislative meeting and how CSW could pro-
vide testimony. Shana, Rachelle, Evelyn, and Lisa CWS committee meetings
plan on attending the legislative meeting on behalf of CSW. CSW will utilize op-
tion #4 and if they need a back up option #2. Must save boarding passes to turn
in to Allen B. for processing.
Angelina Mercado will be attending leading the Women's Caucus and has of-
fered to offer support for CSW attendees.
Questions on making public statement.
Shana discussed project rational titled: Get OUT the Vote 2024.
Discussed budget and specific details of the project rational.
Events that could be held in 2024 to promote project specifically with
students on campus, best month to focus on this might be late August for
campus events. Farrah provided link to University of Hawaii voter regis-
tration page. https://www.hawaii.edu/offices/student-affairs/voter-registra-
tion/
Budget Discussion and how to allocate funds for this project. Committee
took vote for project rationale— Shana made motion to approve project
with budget of$1500 for promotional materials. Rachelle Second- all in
favor YES.
IX. OLD BUSINESS
A. Communications Sub-Committee reports
a. Family Services Directory
Shana provided project rationale for Family Services Directory. Not to ex-
cel $1,000 to print directories. Shana made motion to approve project ra-
tionale - Rachelle second motion, all in favor YES
Check in concerning the edits needed for the directory. Revised version
needs to be edited to fit on the allotted brochure space. Shana and Far-
rah volunteer to work together to complete edits. Discussed process of
purchasing paper and get directories printed and ready to hand out.

Discuss for approval of edits and move forward to print in January meet-
ing
B. Outreach Sub-Committee report
a. Teen Dating Violence— Sub committee meet and present any edits to
committee for approval. Farrah will look through records to see if there is
a project rationale for the Teen Dating Violence cards.
Discussion of teen dating violence trainings that may be happening in the
community.
