To whom it may concern:
My name is Jane Rothmund. I am a Canadian who has been coming to the Punalu'u
area to vacation for years. In Canada I live in a rural area for the peace and natural
beauty. When I come to the Big Island I also look for an area of peace and natural
beauty. Punalu'u is such a place. A large development in Punalu'u would change
the nature of the area immensely, and I for one, would NOT be in favour of this.
There are enough condos, shops, restaurants, and other tourist attractions on the
Kona/Waikoloa side of the island. The south coast must be kept rural so that
Hawaiians have a natural, affordable place to live and visitors have an alternative to
the crowds and large developments. This area of the Big Island is a treasure that
must be preserved.
Thank you for reading my letter in support of keeping Punalu'u natural, beautiful,
and rural.
