My name is Noa Caiserman and live in Woodvalley in Kau since 1982
Firstly,I want to state my negation of this proposed planning. Has there been an EIS 7
I'd like to see the EIS or equivalent.
Noting the significance of my 42 years living in Woodvalley, and when my children grew up camping at
Punalu'u and feeling the beauty,the peace and calmness,experiencing the free turtles.Also,the non-invasive
tourism that would have hindered this experience.
This idea of having a coffee shop on the beach or near our beloved, lei stand,(which, for 75 years have had a
family based stand),is appalling.Along with the rest of the building plans.
My Comment:the reasons rejected by all are that we pride in the fact that this beach is one of the only natural,
fresh, drinking water,producing,non-polluted,cultural,respected place, without becoming part of the ongoing
destruction by building... Like in cities-like Kona,Honolulu,.....
We don't take for granted the peace and non-conforming here....and what's becoming"normal"elsewhere,as"
normal".
We are still natural and culturally observant of our mana, our Hawksbill turtles, that come from Maui, and nest
here, swim back to Maui, and then the keikis swim back to Maui as well. This occasion is honored by us and hard
to imagine when so many tourists are walking along the beach on their nests, and probably they won't nest here any
longer.
Also,we honor the healing pond still!!!
This is to say....there are still other places closer to the highway that can fulfill your wishes. We know progress
in the future is going to happen.BUT WHY HERE !!! in one of the last natural non-built up places, where more
Hawaiians come with their families and respectfully feel the mana here, passing on to their children.
How disrespectful it would be to take that away from us.
It's not right to even consider building this proposition at all,
thinking so close to the shoreline
Demolishing what is now, for the purpose of what you think the future should be?
It's scary that a corporation like yours can ruin the last thing we hold as precious and ruin our way of life here,
that we hold as immeasurable holy.
Let this stay one of the wonders of the world. !!!!
Signing this with much more to say,
Noa Caiserman
