Aloha,
My name is Kimie Herb and I reside in Ka'u with my Ohana.We have had 5 children attend
Ka'u High and Pahala Elementary school.Ka'u is our home and we love and enjoy the Country
life away from the traffic and congestion of Kona and Hilo.A large project which will bring
mass amounts of traffic and people do not belong in Ka'u.This place is protected by its remote
area and provides protection to many Native species that are able to thrive and grow without
harm or endangerment.
When you travel to the mainland they have places that are protected and left untouched for
hundreds of miles due to its one of a kind Beauty and unique landscapes.One place is a World
Heritage site The Grand Canyon which is 1,904 miles and 1,218,375.54 acres of protected as a
designated natural monument that ensures its natural Beauty and geological features for future
generations. I believe Hawai'i also has its own Heritage sites that should be protected.Punalu'u
is one of the top places that fall into that category.Punalu'u is a Hawai'i Heritage site that
should be designated as a Protected Natural resource and environmentally protected space for
many species to thrive and live undisturbed. The Beauty, Geological features,Archaeological
sites and Native Species of Punalu'u needs to be Protected and Unsettled for generations. No
to any more development of already precious land of Punalu'u.
