So many
fond memories of swimming and snorkeling in the bays during the day and night. When I go
there now, the feel of the place has changed and not for the better. Lots of tourist flock to see
the turtles and the black sand keeps on disappearing.
The proposed development is too close to the water and the coastal ocean life and beaches will
be severely affected. Please do an environmental impact survey before moving on. I
personally would rather you just repair what's already there instead of adding on more of what
we don't need. The tennis courts and golf course used to be treasured and utilized well by the
Big Island community. I enjoyed having dinners at the clubhouse. I played tennis almost
every weekend at the Punalu'u tennis courts and we always hung out there all day and bought
snacks from the store.
The amount of development we have at Punalu'u is enough for the area and anything more
will destroy the natural beauty we have left. Please just revitalize what's already there. Keep
things simple. Thank you for your time.
Aloha and mahalo,
Donna Wong Yuen
