Subject: Opposition to development at Punalu'u

Hello, my wife and I used to live in Oceanview and worked in the area. We still very much
value that area and all of our friends and community that still live in the district of Ka'u. We
were very shocked and saddened to hear about development being pushed forward at Punaluu.
It sounds like the developer is already illegally bulldozing before permits have even been
secured. Has an EIS even been completed yet? I don't think so. We are very saddened to
continue to see the county of Hawaii once again put development first.
The local community and the environment should always be placed first over wealthy special
interests. Please include my comment in the public testimony.
