RE: QUARTERLY REPORT ON 201H APPLICATIONS PER RESOLUTION
431-20 DIRECTING HAWAI`I COUNTY TO STRATEGICALLY ADDRESS ITS
ESCALATING HOUSING CRISIS WITH URGENCY, DATED
JANUARY 22, 2020.
The Office of Housing and Community Development(OHCD) submits the October 22, 2021
quarterly report requested by Resolution 431-20 Directing Hawai`i County to Strategically
Address its Escalating Housing Crisis with Urgency, dated 1/22/20.
The following provides an overview of all pending 201H applications received by OHCD as of
10/15/2021:
I.ACTIVE 201H APPLICATIONS
1.Hale Ola 0 Mohouli (TMK: (3)2-4-001:168)
The Hawaii Island Community Development Corporation(HICDC) finalized
revisions to their 201H Application for certain exemptions to OHCD on October
14, 2021. The OHCD will distribute this 201H Application to County
Departments and State agencies and for their review next. HICDC proposes to
develop a 9.091 acre parcel in Waiakea, South Hilo, Hawai`i using a"pocket
neighborhood"design with no more than 90 residential units composed of
surrounding common areas to create a sense of community within the clusters,

and central common areas to be enjoyed by the entire development. The project
will consist of 90 units including thirty (30) single story elderly units, and sixty
60)two-story family units with a central community center. The targeted income
is 60% -120%AMI.
II. SUSPENDED 201H APPLICATIONS
None.
III. RECENTLY COMPLETED 201H APPLICATIONS
1. Resolution 179-21 authorizing the exemptions of certain code requirements,
pursuant to Section 201H-38, HRS, for the Honua'ula Affordable Housing Project
in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, covered by TMKs (3)7-4-004:014, and 092 was passed
on September 8, 2021.
