Aloha,
Short term vacation rentals are businesses and as such should not be allowed in areas zoned
residential. People on the Big Island managed to live in residential neighborhoods and work in
the surrounding area without vacation rentals for many, many years.
Definition of residential from Wiktionary:
residential
1. Of or pertaining to a place of personal residence or to a location for such places.
They live in a residential neighborhood.
2. Used as a residence or by residents.
3. Of or pertaining to residency.
Appropriate areas zoned for tourist accommodations (such as the resorts, or the business
districts of cities/towns) should be encouraged.
