Subject: Clarification for In-Home Health Services Under Bill 121"s"Event"Category

Dear Chairperson Lin,
Greetings! We are elderly residents devoted to our community's collective well-being.
We wish to express our concerns about bill 121, and one spot in particular surrounding
"professional services" and "events."
As seniors, the engagement of professional health services such as masseuses and
yoga instructors are not a matter of indulgence but one of necessity for maintaining our
health. This practice is common among us and our peers, and it often extends to renters
seeking to preserve their well-being while away from home as well.
The ambiguity in the current language of the bill raises concerns. These essential health
services, conducted quietly within the privacy of our home, risk being misclassified as
"events." Such a misinterpretation could impose an undue burden of obtaining permits
for activities that are integral to our daily lives and those of our renters.
It is our belief that the spirit of the bill should not penalize residents and guests for
prioritizing their health and wellness. The commission's consideration in clarifying that
such in-home services, tailored to personal health needs and not constituting public
gatherings, do not fall under the "event" category would be a testament to our
community's commitment to its residents' quality of life.We understand that weddings
are not acceptable but please do not mis-categorize our health activities as events.
We appreciate the commission's dedication to our community's welfare and stand ready
to support a bill that comprehensively addresses these considerations.
With heartfelt thanks,
Richard and Rose O'Brien
