Hawaii County is considering a number of changes including:
• Requiring all transient accommodation rentals—hosted or unhosted—to register. Okay
• Changing which zones allow rentals. Okay
• Changing the definition of transient accommodation from stays of 30 days or less to stays
of less than 180 days. I do not agree that this is fair or good. Anything over 30 days
should still be considered long term. Most vacations are for 7 to 10 days... that is
transient.
• Implementing new registration fees and fines for violations. i do not agree with annual
fees, I think the one time fee was fair. Actually enforcing the existing rules would be
a good idea.
