ESCALATING HOUSING CRISIS WITH URGENCY, DATED
JANUARY22,2020
The Office of Homing and Community Development (OHCD) submits their quarterly report required by
Resolution 431-20 Directing Hawat'i County to Strategically Address its Escalating Homing Crisis with
Urgency, dated 1/22/20.
The following provides an overview of all pending 20 1 H applications received by OHCD as of
1/22/2021:
1. H6nua'ula Living Community (TMK (3) 74-004:014,(3)7-4-004:092
This I 12 -unit affordable housing project located in Keatakehe, North Kom proposes to build, and
rent to households with adjusted mean incomes (AMD between 30%-80% The project plans to have a
45 -year affordability period, and is applying for Low Income Housing Tax Credit funding in the
spring of 2021. The project is required to install a 650 feet section of sewer pipe in the road right of
way to connect to the existing smer system. OHCD is unable to exempt this environmental
requirement through Chaprunr 11.200.8 (a) (11).
Status: This project application will be suspended until this issue is resolved by the applicant.
2. LULANA GARDENS (AINA LEA); TMK (3) 6-6-001:036
Status: Previously reported, this application has been returned to the Developer as it does not meet the
50% affordable unit threshold for the entire Villages of Aim Lea project covering TMK Nos: (3)-6-8-
001:036, 038,039, and 069.
