From: Kathryn Biasotti
To: LPCtestimony
Subject: Subject: Bill 121-Elimination of Redundant Safety Certification
Date: Monday,April 15,2024 7:30:05 AM
Dear Distinguished Commission Members,
come to you as a homeowner who has navigated the complexities of building and
maintaining a property in compliance with the existing building codes. The additional
burden of a health and safety affidavit, as proposed in the bill, seems an unnecessary
duplication. It is near impossible to get something permitted in this county. Not only this
affidavit impose an extra layer of bureaucracy, but it also disregards the efficacy of our
current safety regulations, which have reliably ensured the wellbeing of residents and
guests alike.
For example: when constructing a home, the stringent building codes in place provided a
robust framework for safety and legal compliance. To introduce another certification is
to discount the stringent checks and balances already employed by our building
department. I urge you to reconsider the necessity of the affidavit requirement and to
place trust in the established codes that have long served our community.Who's to say
that homeowners know what's "safe" and "unsafe"too? Isn't that why we have licensed
contractors?
Yours in service,
Kathryn Biasotti, BSN, CPHRM, LNCC
MBA in Healthcare Management
Principal KB Consulting
kathr n c kbconsulting work
530-545-2967- cell
0
Confidentiality Notice: This e-mail message, including any attachments, is for the sole use of the intended
recipient(s).
