Hawaii needs rest from all the over development.Ka'u is one of the last places that hasn't been completely overrun by transplants, tourists, and those who do not respect the space they are lucky to occupy. I was bom and raised in Puna and many of us there have watched(especially over the past four years)as places that used to be available for the residents to visit have become overrun with people who do not respect or maintain the beautiful places they go.Tourists especially seem to think that they can go wherever they choose and in my experience often harass the people and wildlife that are there. There is too much at stake to allow a development so big.To hear that a golf course, which in my opinion is one of the most wasteful water guzzling environment destroying developments you could do,may also go there makes me worry for the quality of life for any of the wildlife in Ka'u.And 225 short term places to stay for tourists? When there are so many homeless and so many displaced and so few people who can afford to live in Hawaii? It seems cruel and as though these developers only care about money, they do not care about the island, its residents, and its wild life. I hope that at the hearing today the developers can realize that there is so much opposition for what they are trying to do.I hope they can open their eyes and prevent the destruction they are trying to cause.Keep Ka'u Ka'u. Thank you for your time. -S Dossett
