From: Julie Stowell
To: WPCtestimony
Subject: Testimony re: Punalu'u SMA(PL-SMA-2023-000046)
Date: Thursday,March 7,2024 10:34:58 AM
Aloha Chair Lin,Vice Chair Daniele and members of the Windward Planning Committee,
My name is Julie Stowell and I am asking you to please deny the Special Management Area permit application that
wants to build a luxury resort development at Punalu'u Black Sand Beach.I only recently became aware of this plan
to develop in this special area of Ka'u.I realize I have missed the deadline to submit testimony, but I am emailing
you anyway as the community should be given more notice of these types of plans. The construction that this SMA
permit allows would result in irreparable harm to this public trust resource.
I can't believe that this is coming up again as a proposed development for the beautiful, sacred and unique coast line
that is one of the last as its kind. Why,why, why do greedy people continue to try to make money off the last of our
sacred places in Hawaii? Are we not already over run with tourists?Billionaires buying up any land they can?
Military occupying illegal lands?Haven't the people already said NO?
PLEASE JUST SAY NO.
Make a stand for our Aina and our Kai and Wai.Please protect Punalu'u.
Mahalo,
Julie Stowell
