Aloha,
I demand that you REJECT any Application for a Special Management Area Permit to allow
for the development of a residential and commercial community in Punalu'u. This will not be a
"community"- this will be another resort for non-residents to exploit Hawaii for commercial
and personal gain without contributing to any local community. It will cause environmental
destruction to the natural environment and the precious eco-system of sea turtles. The
ecosystem can not support this much development. It can't support the development that is
already there.
Your job is to PROTECT THE AINA first and foremost from development, not just sell it off
to the highest bidder.
DO NOT GRANT A PERMIT TO BLACK SAND BEACH LLC! They should take down the
'development' they have there already and restore the land to its natural state.
KEEP COUNTRY, COUNTRY! Do not turn Punalu'u into another Kohala resort!!!!!!!!!!!
If you do grant this permit, expect extreme political consequences. There will be resistance to
any new development there on the level of what was seen on Maunakea.
