Subject: In Opposition of Punalu'u,Ka'u Development

To whom it may concern,
The development of land in Punalu'u would be severely destructive to not only important
heritage burial sites there, but also to the habitat and environment of local wildlife - especially
in reference to the respective hawksbill and green turtles in the area.
Part of the wonder of the Big Island is how rugged the terrain remains; the history along the
valleys beginning at Punalu'u and Waipi'o is both unique, historically relevant and
aesthetically stunning - all things that will be lost under the proposed plans.
These plans do not take into account the ecological nor historical damage it will impart upon
the area and leaves everyone with the question; to what end?
If you allow Punalu'u to be developed, that is a gateway to allowing the other valleys to
undergo such change, and while change can be progressive, change without local support is
gentrification.
Formally,
Anne Jorgenson
