As a Hawaii island resident of Volcano village, I oppose the SMA permit for development at
Punalu'u Black Sand beach.
We need to prioritize the natural beauty and landscape of some of our few remaining treasures
that are not overburdened with tourism. I do not believe a resort will be the best use for long
term care and prosperity of this area and protect it for years to come.
Additionally the lights and noise from the resort can only devastate the Honu'ea Hawksbill
green sea turtle habitat which is already small enough.
