Kurtistown, Hawaii 96760 March 27, 2024 Aloha Ladies and Gentlemen, Please deny the proposed Shoreline Managment Area/SMA permit extension for Black Sands Beach LLC — Punalu`u. The cultural history and heritage of Punalu`u, Ka`u are incontrovertible; a place associated with the Chiefs and priests of Tahiti, ancient religious sites, and remembered as the site from which Keouakuahuula, launched in his fateful meet with Kamehameha I. Instead of considering development of the area surrounding this very imporant cultural site, perhaps conservation easement makes more sense, with purchase by the County, and focus on stewardship. It's an imperfect solution but gives consideration to preservation of cultural heritage in the interest of future generations of descendants, and Hawaii's people. It's one thing when we don't know. Like in Kona, back in the day when major sites were bulldozed for Mamalahoa Highway. But now, everybody knows better. Please deny the Shoreline Managment Area/SMA permit extension for Black Sands Beach LLC — Punalu`u. Mahalo for your consideration, Lynn Walther Junalequeen808Qyahoo.com 808 557-7650
