Subject:Proposed Development at Punaluu
Aloha,
My name is Kekukuna Tringali.I grew up in Volcano,in an area which is contained in the Ka'u District.I spent
much of my time camping and fishing in the Ka'u area.
I do NOT support the SMA permits for any new development for the purpose of increasing tourism in the Ka'u area.
These activities(the construction,operation of,and the management of waste)and an increase of tourists in the area
will upset the fragile ecosystem of our beaches and oceans.
There are many rare and endangered creatures here-rhe fish in the ocean,the limn(seaweed)on the rocks,the monk
seals,hoaiy bats,pueo(native Hawaiian owls)and`io(native Hawaiian hawks).
Punaluu is also known to be a nesting place for the rare and endangered Hawksbill Sea Turtle,and a place where
Green Sea Turtles are known to bask.
Again,I do NOT support any new developments for the purpose of increasing tourism in the Ka'u area.
