Aloha
My name is Pualei Mahiai and I am writing to voice the opposition of granting approval for
Black Sand Beach LLC's request for a special management area permit. I strongly believe
their plan of action will not benefit the current residents at this time. Born and raised on
Hawaii Island has given me the opportunity to visit Ka'u, and specifically Punalu'u. I feel that
no benefits for the people of Ka'u will come with doing business with Black Sand Beach LLC.
There are numerous health and safety issues that have yet to be addressed with the current land
owners. Until progress is made in this area, I demand that their application for the permit be
denied. Mahalo for your time and consideration.
