From: Kathie Mead
To: W PCtesti mony
Subject: Black Sand Beach SMA 2023 000046
Date: Tuesday, March 5,2024 5:15:23 PM
Attention: Windward Planning Commission:
I have owned a condo at Colony 1 for almost 20 years. I do not agree with the letter submitted
by the board of directors for Sea Mountain. I want this Commission to know that this is the
opinion of 6 people, without input from any owners.
I believe that the size of this project is a good compromise for our area. This development is
much smaller in scope than the previous developers have asked for. It provides jobs, and a
rejuvenation of buildings that have long sat in disrepair.
It also provides help for our ailing water and sewer systems. I have complete confidence that
this Planning Commission and Kau County will not let this developer build without the
proper infrastructure in place. Without a developer to cover the costs of bringing our systems
up to date, that cost will fall to the State, County, or the 100 owners currently relying on the
water and sewer. I know for a fact that the condo association does not have the money for the
needed upgrades.
I think this project is a good option to have a small amount of growth and keep the beauty and
charm of our unique area.
Thank you for your time, Kathie and Patrick Mead, Sea Mountain Condo 931.
