Aloha,
My name is Keli'i Ioane and would like to testify in opposition of approving PL-SMA-2023-000046.
There are a number of reasons why the construction of this community is both unadvisable and undesirable.
For myself,the number one reason I feel the construction of this community is detrimental to the quality of life of
Big Island residents,is for the simple fact that Kau is the last bastion on this island where the pressures of
gentrification are weaker than elsewhere.
I believe,as do most of Hawaii's residents,that gentrification is the biggest problem facing our local communities
today.And is it not the responsibility of our county and state governing bodies to serve and assist our residents?To
help us find ways to mitigate our systemic issues and improve our overall quality of life?I believe it is.
In this light I would like to oppose the approval of PL-SMA-2023-000046 and request the planning commission to
schedule another meeting on a weekend day so that more working people may attend.
