From: Noa Caiserman <br /> To: WPCtestimonv;Council Remote Testimony <br /> Subject: Punalu'u project protest <br /> Date: Monday,March 4, 2024 5:43:39 PM <br /> My name is Noa Caiserman and live in Woodvalley in Kau since 1982 <br /> Firstly,I want to state my negation of this proposed planning. Has there been an EIS 7 <br /> I'd like to see the EIS or equivalent. <br /> Noting the significance of my 42 years living in Woodvalley,and when my children grew up camping at <br /> Punalu'u and feeling the beauty,the peace and calmness,experiencing the free turtles.Also,the non-invasive <br /> tourism that would have hindered this experience. <br /> This idea of having a coffee shop on the beach or near our beloved,lei stand,(which,for 75 years have had a <br /> family based stand),is appalling.Along with the rest of the building plans. <br /> My Comment:the reasons rejected by all are that we pride in the fact that this beach is one of the only natural, <br /> fresh,drinking water,producing,non-polluted,cultural,respected place,without becoming part of the ongoing <br /> destruction by building... Like in cities-like Kona,Honolulu,..... <br /> We don't take for granted the peace and non-conforming here....and what's becoming"normal"elsewhere,as" <br /> normal". <br /> We are still natural and culturally observant of our mana,our Hawksbill turtles,that come from Maui,and nest <br /> here,swim back to Maui,and then the keikis swim back to Maui as well. This occasion is honored by us and hard <br /> to imagine when so many tourists are walking along the beach on their nests,and probably they won't nest here any <br /> longer. <br /> Also,we honor the healing pond still!!! <br /> This is to say....there are still other places closer to the highway that can fulfill your wishes. We know progress <br /> in the future is going to happen.BUT WHY HERE !!! in one of the last natural non-built up places, where more <br /> Hawaiians come with their families and respectfully feel the mana here,passing on to their children. <br /> How disrespectful it would be to take that away from us. <br /> It's not right to even consider building this proposition at all, <br /> thinking so close to the shoreline <br /> Demolishing what is now, for the purpose of what you think the future should be? <br /> It's scary that a corporation like yours can ruin the last thing we hold as precious and ruin our way of life here, <br /> that we hold as immeasurable holy. <br /> Let this stay one of the wonders of the world. !!!! <br /> Signing this with much more to say, <br /> Noa Caiserman <br /> Sent from my iPhone <br />
