I am a visitor to the big island of Hawaii once every two years. I stay at a place that is walking
distance to Black Sand Beach. This is a beautiful small beach that also caters as a safe place
for turtles. I understand that a development that is NOT coastal dependent in a already
crowded area puts people, facilities and turtles in danger from tsunamis and fire, etc. Bringing
more people into this area with only one road in and out is irresponsible. A big development
is unnecessary.
I strongly oppose a new development in the area of Black Sand Beach. If this area is still
under consideration, an environmental impact study should be done because a development
will impact the wildlife, such as turtles, nenes, the coral, etc.
Hawaii is a beautiful island and should NOT be over-developed.
