Subject: Testimony regarding Bill 122 for Leeward Planning Commission

Bill 122 Bed and Breakfast: opposed
Aloha Chair DeFranco and Members of the Leeward Planning Commission,
Bed and Breakfast are a traditional and beloved type of transient accommodation and
have been around for a very long time. Many areas on the Big Island are not suited
for large scale Hotels or Resorts. It's hard to explain exactly, but it just feels wrong to
get rid of Bed and Breakfast permits. Looking into the future, wouldn't we want some
diversity in our tourism accommodations? Hawaii has always had Bed & Breakfast
and vacation rental homes also.
