From: Adam Roberts
To: WPCtestimonv
Subject: Bill121
Date: Monday,April 1, 2024 12:01:07 PM
Aloha,
Please do not pass this bill.
This is overreaching! There is no proof that this will ease the long term housing situation. In
fact, it most certainly will not as only 5 % of the housing is STVR. Most STVR are not
suitable for long term housing and will be taken off the market completely if they are phased
out. Or out of state folks will buy them up and live in them or they will sit vacant.
This is NOT a solution. It is the responsibility of government to provide affordable housing,
not the homeowner.
There will be proven harm to many local residents who are trying to stay afloat with rental
income from STVR. Please do not punish the residents who live here. If you must phase out
STVR,phase out the out of state owned rentals. That money is not kept in our state.
This bill will burden owners with unnecessary licensing fees and is an unacceptable erosion of
property rights and privacy.
This will hurt locals and also take away jobs from locals for maintenance, cleaning, etc.
It will also take away the 17.96%tax revenue that the state is receiving on these rentals.
Mahalo for your consideration,
Laura
