I have been opposed to the County's Bill 121 which will drastically affect my small business as well as the livelihood of many people in this area. This bill was put forward without the due consideration that required to determine the economic impact of shutting down STVRs. To understand what this Bill can due to the people of Hawaii the Bill NEEDS to go back to the County council a they NEED to conduct a comprehensive, academically rigorous economic impact study. As a former scientist, a rigorous study is always required to determine what may occur when such a major change is implemented. Too often politicians don't really think about what effects a bill like this can have on the everyday hard working Hawaiians in the area. I believe great care needs to be taken and the effects studied before any such bill is put into effect. The politicians who are pushing this bill forward have stated they are fine with such a study, and even if they weren't any bill that can hurt the livelihoods of Hawaiian SHOULD ALWAYS be studied. Until you study it you will never know how severe the bill can bill. Prevention is always the best form of medicine. Mahalo Patricia Szot, Ph.D.
