Good afternoon,
I am writing in opposition to the proposed Black Sand Beach, LLC development in Punalu'u.
The Ka'u district remains one of Hawaii's few unspoiled areas rich with native culture and
nature conservation. Development such as that proposed by said organization will bring
unnecessary traffic to the area, effectively damaging the native environment and causing
undue burden to the natural resources. This development will also add a burden to the
already taxed infrastructure of the area, increasing demands for power and water.
The west side of Hawai'i island has already been commercialized and inundated with golf
courses and development. I am moving my family to the east side of the island because of the
beauty and unspoiled land that it is, not to see it turn in to what the majority of HawaiTs
visitors are trying to escape when they visit.
