In October 2015, DK&P led a well attended Bachelor of Architecture 9-day charrette located in a storefront in the heart of downtown.Working with a Andrews University group of equity specialists,the Plan was relaunched in 2017. Working with local and economic consultants, Dover, Kohl &Partners held a public charrette in the Town in November 2011. During the charrette,six principles for resilience were developed:Assess Opportunities&Threats, Enhance Local Assets, Focus on the Heart of Town, Diversify Mobility Options, Build Stronger&Safer, and Live with Water.With these elements a series of Town projects like the expansion of their boardwalk system through the- bayou,developing a nature center,adding a new dock,creating a fish market at Rosethorn Park, and enhancing the availability to their long history to help draw tourists were developed to show short-term success, giving confidence to the people in the town that they could still be there tomorrow. The town of Pulelehua, 2005 located near the Kapalua Airport in West Maui, is an example of this philosophy put into practice.
